About the Event

Join us for a fun and educational day planting native plants in the Harry Day Preserve! Head Steward and Mycologist Aubrey Carter will lead the group in planting native shrubs and teach us about deer protection. Each volunteer will get to participate in installing a deer fence around a plant.

This is a great chance to enjoy the autumnal weather, appreciate the beauty of our native Connecticut environment, and come away with actionable ideas for taking care of your own backyard.

We'll meet at NOON at the entrance to Harry Day Preserve, and head into the SLCT’s newest preserve from there. Parking is available at Newman Mills Park for those with permits, and on Fawnfield Road (¼ mile south of the preserve entrance) with no permit required. If you arrive late to the event, please reach out to Aubrey.
